Tel Aviv (Israel), Feb 16 (ANI): Over 1,000 Israeli demonstrators gathered in Tel Aviv on Friday, calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step down after police recommended that he be charged with bribery in two corruption cases. The police said that there was enough evidence to prosecute the Prime Minister on allegations that he had accepted lavish gifts from wealthy businessmen and also tried to negotiate a corrupt deal with a newspaper publisher. Netanyahu denies wrongdoing in both cases and has said nothing will come of the police investigations. It is now up to the Attorney General to determine whether to press charges against him. The protestors carried placards reading signs saying ‘crooks go home’ and ‘crime minister.’ A poll published on Wednesday showed almost half of Israel’s electorate believe the police rather than Netanyahu.
