Fact-Checking Policy
Prabhat Khabar is committed to providing accurate, verified, and balanced information to its readers. Our Fact-Checking Policy outlines the principles and processes our newsroom follows to identify, verify, and publish factual information, and to correct misinformation circulating in public discourse.
1. Scope
This policy applies to all editorial content published on Prabhat Khabar platforms (print, digital, and social media), including fact-checking work related to public claims, statements, viral content, and reader-submitted queries.
2. Verification Standards
Our journalists adhere to the highest standards of accuracy and fairness:
- Every fact must be corroborated with at least two reliable, independent sources whenever possible.
- We clearly cite our sources — official data, documents, eyewitnesses, or expert opinions.
- Facts are presented in full context to avoid misrepresentation.
- We do not base fact-checks on anonymous or unverifiable sources.
- Verification tools include reverse image search, metadata analysis, geolocation checks, and official records.
3. Fact-Checking Process
- Claim Identification: We identify claims of public interest or potential misinformation.
- Research and Verification: The assigned fact-checker gathers evidence and verifies authenticity.
- Rating: Each claim is rated as True, Mostly True, Partly True, False, or Misleading.
- Review: Every fact-check undergoes editorial review by a senior editor before publication.
- Publication: The report includes methodology, sources, and context for readers’ understanding.
4. Independence and Impartiality
The fact-checking team operates independently of commercial and political influence. Prabhat Khabar does not accept funding or sponsorship that could compromise editorial integrity. All findings are based solely on verifiable evidence.
5. Reader Engagement
Readers are encouraged to submit claims for verification or alert us to potential misinformation via email: [email protected]. We welcome evidence and corrections from the public.
