Corrections Policy
Prabhat Khabar values accuracy above all. When an error occurs, we correct it promptly, transparently, and prominently. This policy outlines how we handle corrections, clarifications, and updates.
1. Identifying Errors
Errors may be identified by our editorial team, readers, sources, fact-checkers, or third-party feedback.
2. Correction Procedure
- Verification: Once an error is reported, editors verify the claim immediately.
- Correction: If confirmed, the correction is made swiftly with a clear note indicating the change.
- Transparency: Online articles will include a timestamp and a correction note explaining what was changed and why.
- Print corrections: For print editions, a correction will be published in a designated section titled “Corrections & Clarifications.”
3. Types of Updates
- Correction: For factual errors (names, dates, data, quotes, etc.).
- Clarification: When additional context is required for accuracy.
- Retraction: In rare cases where the entire story is found to be false or misleading.
4. Reader Requests for Correction
Readers can request corrections by emailing [email protected].
Requests should include: - Article headline and link/date of publication
- Description of the error
- Supporting evidence, if available
All correction requests will receive acknowledgment within 48 hours and resolution within 7 days where feasible.
5. Accountability
Prabhat Khabar’s Editorial Standards Committee monitors compliance with this policy and reviews correction trends periodically to improve newsroom practices.
