श्रीलंका के अनुभवी बल्लेबाज एंजेलो मैथ्यूज सोमवार को आईसीसी क्रिकेट विश्व कप में बांग्लादेश के खिलाफ ‘टाइम आउट’ दिए गए और अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट में इस तरह आउट होने वाले पहले बल्लेबाज बन गए. दरअसल बांग्लादेश के खिलाफ वर्ल्ड कप मैच में सदीरा समरविक्रम के आउट होने के बाद मैथ्यूज जैसे ही क्रीज पहुंचे और हेलमेट लगाने लगे तो उसका स्ट्रैप टूट गया. उन्होंने ड्रेसिंग रूम से दूसरा हेलमेट लाने का इशारा किया लेकिन इसमें काफी समय लग गया. इस बीच बांग्लादेश के कप्तान शाकिब अल हसन ने मैथ्यूज के खिलाफ टाइम आउट की अपील की और अंपायर मराइस इरासमस ने उन्हें आउट करार दे दिया. मैथ्यूज ने अंपायर और शाकिब से बात की और अपने हेलमेट का टूटा हुआ स्ट्रैप भी दिखाया लेकिन बांग्लादेश के कप्तान ने अपील वापस लेने से इनकार कर दिया और श्रीलंका के बल्लेबाज को वापस लौटना पड़ा.
