Ranchi (Jharkhand), Jan 29 (ANI): A doctor who treats poor patients for free became a ray of hope for many in the society. Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee of Ranchi who runs his medical clinic on Lalpur chowk is an example in medical profession. He takes Rs 5 as fee from his patients. His low consultation charges have helped many poor patients in times of sickness when other doctors and hospitals are too expensive for them. He has been awarded Padma Shri this year for his services. He is 83-years-old and did his MBBS from Patna medical college in 1957. He has set an example for modern day greedy doctors who have lowered the dignity of medical profession just for money. He gave his medical services in Bihar and Jharkhand. After retirement he set up his clinic in Ranchi. Government has recognised his selfless services for which he is very much thankful.
