The festival celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, who is believed to be the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Krishna’s temples were decorated and special programmes were organised across the country to celebrate his birth. Lord Krishna is considered an avatar of the Lord Vishnu and his birth anniversary is considered a day to be celebrated by most Hindu’s and his worshippers.
