Early snowfall in Kashmir brings joy to farmers

Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir), Dec 18 (ANI): An early blanket of snow cloaked Udhampur’s Karlah region. A place, where most of the people depend on farming and agricultural practices for livelihood, witnessed an early and heavy snowfall as a blessing. After decades, farmers rejoice as the snowfall is set to enhance the quality and production of fruits like Apricots and Walnuts. Speaking to ANI, one of the farmers revealed that heavy snowfall results in killing of germs and viruses in fruits enhance the quality which in turn would earn them good rates in the market. Apple and Walnut growers are expecting a bumper production of fruits this season. Chief Horticulture Officer Brij Vallav Gupta told ANI that such a timely snowfall which has come after a two decade wait, will be reposeful for the fruit growers of the Valley.
