VIDEO: बहरागोड़ा के बनकटिया गांव में हाथियों का आतंक, फसलों को पहुंचाया नुकसान

चारों तरफ जंगल से घिरा हुआ बरसोल थाना अंतर्गत गोपालपुर पंचायत के बनकटिया गांव में पिछले दो सप्ताह से जंगली हाथियों का उत्पात जारी है. इस दौरान हाथियों ने 50 से 60 बीघा में तैयार होती फसल को पूरी तरह बर्बाद किया. वहीं करीब 20 बीघा में लगे करेला की खेती को बर्बाद कर दिया है. रविवार की रात भी ग्रामीणों ने हाथियों को क्षेत्र से भगाने का प्रयास किया. इस दौरान हाथियों को जंगल के रास्ते पश्चिम बंगाल के सिंह जंगल भेजने का प्रयास किया गया, लेकिन चिचिड़ा गांव के पास ग्रामीणों द्वारा पटाखें फोड़ दिए जाने से हाथियों का झुंड फिर वापस बनकटिया जंगल आ गया. इस दौरान खेत में तैयार होती फसलों को हाथी खा गए. बनकटिया गांव के ग्राम प्रधान लालमोहन पातर ने कहा कि यहां धान खेती साल में एक बार होता है,जो ग्रामीणों के जीविकोपार्जन का मुख्य साधन है. ऐसे में हाथियों के द्वारा क्षति पहुंचाने के बाद फसल मालिक और उसके परिवार के समक्ष काफी विपरीत परिस्थितियां बन जाती है. लोगों ने वन विभाग से आवश्यक पहल कर हाथियों को भगाने की मांग की है.

During this, elephants ate the crops being prepared in the field. Village head of Bankatia village Lalmohan Patar said that paddy cultivation is done here once in a year, which is the main means of livelihood of the villagers. In such a situation, after causing damage by elephants, very adverse situations are created in front of the crop owner and his family. People have demanded the forest department to take necessary initiative to drive away the elephants.
