Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu/Ahmedabad, Gujarat Feb 13 (ANI): A Hindu fringe outfit, ‘Shakti Sena’ took to the streets on Monday in Coimbatore city to protest against the celebration of Valentine’s Day claiming it to be an evil adoption from the western culture. The protestors donning saffron stoles and carrying saffron flags sloganeered while conducting a rally and holding anti-Valentine’s day banners and posters of couples in intimate moments. Meanwhile in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, a far-Right Hindu youth wing, ‘Bajrang Dal’ pasted anti-Valentine’s Day posters and stickers at bus stops and other public places. The posters carried merged faces of a woman wearing a ‘bindi’, and a woman in ‘burqa’ indicative of a warning about ‘Love Jihad’. Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year on February 14 in the memory of St. Valentine. It is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance in many regions around the world.
